HOME ROOM CLC 12

This week’s HR lesson is focused on Core Competency goal setting via myBlueprint. All students in Grades 8 – 12 need to reflect on Core Competencies throughout the year. We are doing this via setting a goal in November, and then reflecting in January, April, and June. This will be noted on their Learning Updates – see CSL guide from last week’s staff meeting for more info if needed.

NOTE: We will plan to lead the Grade 11s through the survey we did with 8, 9, 10, and 12 last week. See separate email. Grade 11s will complete their Core Competency goal setting via myBlueprint next week.

Many students have navigated within myBlueprint for course selection and for other career related tasks via Career Ed. The steps for this lesson are very self-explanatory, and students can go through this step by step with you. The link to myBlueprint is on our school website, and we’ve also put a QR code in the presentation. They can use their phones, as this would be a good example of tech use for an educational purpose, and myBlueprint seems to navigate fine from a device. Of course, if you are set up in a lab, please use those computers, or if you want to book a cart or bins, please do that, too.

Goal for Lesson:

  • All students creating a Core Competency Portfolio within myBlueprint
  • All students creating one, specific Core Competency goal within myBlueprint

Additional:

  • If students did not complete the “School Goal” survey we went through last week (Grades 8, 9, 10, 12) – the links are also provided for students to finish that via this week’s slides. Your support in having them complete this is appreciated

What you need:

  • Link to slides for myBlueprint: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1BZvXvKu7XWYNQwDXuTjqVqgexZ-7Wcrp1eNOEzJi2EM/edit?usp=sharing
  • We encourage you to review the “I Can” statements from Nanaimo and that Deirdre made that were shared in September during initial Core Competency conversations as HRs. Links to the Nanaimo statements are found within the slides. Encourage students to share where they’ve seen CC’s being named in their classes. What are they? How have they seen them in action?
